Football Game Preview: Phillips Academy Big Blue vs. Phillips Exeter Academy Lions

The Phillips Academy Big Blue will head out on the road to take on the Phillips Exeter Academy Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Phillips Academy's offense hasn't had much luck over their past three games, but Saturday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Phillips Academy's last matchup with Cheshire Academy could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Saturday. The Big Blue came up short against the Cats, falling 31-7. While losing is never fun, the Big Blue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 96th in Massachusetts, while the Cats are ranked sixth in Connecticut).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Phillips Exeter Academy). They blew past Suffield Academy, posting a 59-26 win. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Phillips Exeter Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Phillips Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Phillips Academy might still be hurting after the 42-21 loss they got from Phillips Exeter Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Big Blue were down 35-0.
