Basketball Recap: El Capitan Picks Up 16th Straight Win at Home

El Capitan entered their tilt with Rocklin on Monday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They pulled ahead with a 46-45 photo finish over the Rocklin Thunder.

El Capitan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keira Heinricy, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Sample, who posted eight points and six assists.

Bianca Slone and Kameryn King certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Slone put up 11 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals, while King had eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Gisele Negueloua was another key player, putting up ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

El Capitan pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.1 points per game. As for Rocklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Capitan will welcome Cathedral Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. El Capitan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. As for Rocklin, they will host Folsom at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Folsom knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Rocklin likes a good challenge.
