Basketball Recap: Hammond Bishop Noll Falls to Crown Point in First Game of Season

Hammond Bishop Noll unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through an 80-50 loss at the hands of the Crown Point Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warriors have suffered since January 7th.

When it comes to explaining why Hammond Bishop Noll lost on Tuesday, don't look at Ecrin Mart. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points and three steals. Jaiden Hall was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Crown Point found their leader in sophomore Ava Richie, who went 8-for-13 en route to 19 points along with six boards and six steals. Richie has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 20 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sidney Hale, who earned nine points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Crown Point has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Hammond Bishop Noll is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crown Point, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Hammond Central at 7:00 p.m.
