High school football: Five-star quarterback Dia Bell – son of NBA veteran Raja Bell – commits to Texas

Class of 2026 signal caller threw for nearly 2,000 yards last fall while leading American Heritage to 10-2 record.

Five-star quarterback Dia Bell of American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) committed to play his college football at Texas earlier this week.

Bell is the No. 2-rated quarterback and No. 10 overall prospect in the Class of 2026 according to 247Sports.

The son of NBA veteran Raja Bell, Dia helped American Heritage go 10-2 and reach the Class 2M semifinals as a sophomore in 2023. For the season, he threw for 1,929 yards and 20 touchdowns while completing 64.6 percent of his attempts.

Bell had one of his best games of the season in a 49-7 win over King's Academy in the second round of the playoffs, completing 12 of 13 pass attempts for 303 yards and three touchdowns. He added two additional scores on the ground in that contest.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder saw time under center as an eighth-grader and freshman. He also plays for his father on the American Heritage basketball team, posting 13.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this season.

Bell selected Texas over 37 other offers, including Florida, LSU, Miami and Ohio State.
