Soccer Game Preview: Morris vs. Ottawa

Morris will head out to face off against the Ottawa Pirates at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Morris' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Things were looking good for Morris after they put the first goal on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of LaSalle-Peru by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Morris can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 424th, while LaSalle-Peru is ranked 137th).

Morris' goal came courtesy of Grant Sparrow, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, while the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Kaneland who was credited with the win on Monday. The Knights got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Ottawa's zero.

Ottawa's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Morris, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Morris came up short against Ottawa in their previous matchup on Saturday, falling 3-1. Can Morris avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
