Preview: Bedford Bisons vs. Penn Cambria Panthers
Bedford and Penn Cambria are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Bedford Bisons' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Penn Cambria Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Bedford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 431st, while Penn Cambria is ranked 175th).
On Tuesday, Bedford came up short against Everett and fell 53-44.
Despite the defeat, Bedford saw an underclassman step up: Rebekah Costal scored 15 points. Shannon Letrent was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Penn Cambria scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They claimed a resounding 72-40 win over Somerset at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Penn Cambria has posted since December 2, 2023.
Penn Cambria's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isabelle Andersen led the charge by scoring 15 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Saleme, who scored ten points.
Bedford dropped their record down to 3-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Penn Cambria, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Bedford suffered a grim 49-28 defeat to Penn Cambria in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Bedford was down 34-10.
