Basketball Recap: Challenger Takes a Loss

The matchup between Challenger and Nebo Crossing Academy on Tuesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Firebirds fell 66-57 to the Bulldogs. The Firebirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, Challenger still got an impressive performance from Braelon Roe, who shot 55% from the field en route to 23 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The contest was Roe's third in a row with at least 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Fox, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Nebo Crossing Academy found their leader in sophomore Cade Galbreath, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Reece Galbreath, who had five points along with 14 boards and six assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Challenger and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Nebo Crossing Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coincidentally, Challenger and Nebo Crossing Academy will both be playing Community Christian Academy the next time they take the court. The Firebirds will head out to face the Warriors at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
