Soccer Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Newberg

Newberg took a six-goal loss the last time they faced off against Forest Grove, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Newberg's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon soccer rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Forest Grove are ranked 23rd).

Newberg's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-5-3. As for Forest Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2-5.

Coincidentally, Newberg and Forest Grove will both be playing Glencoe the next time they take the pitch. The Tigers will head out to face the Crimson Tide at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Vikings will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
