The Skipstone Academy Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Scholars Guild Academy Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Skipstone Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Trinity Christian School of Griffin two weeks ago. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the LIONS. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the LIONS recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Cody Collum made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Skipstone Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-10 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Kade Gregory was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Wilson, who scored two runs and stole three bases.
Skipstone Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Christian School of Griffin only posted an OBP of .346.
Meanwhile, Scholars Guild Academy came tearing into Monday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Warrior as they made off with a 10-4 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Jacob Chupp made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Chupp was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Scholars Guild Academy let Justin Whitfield and Will Pittman run wild. Whitfield scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Pittman scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Sebastian Kenny was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Scholars Guild Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Skipstone Academy, their record is now 4-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Skipstone Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Scholars Guild Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Skipstone Academy might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Scholars Guild Academy when the teams last played back in March. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
