Eaton dropped to 16-4 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the University Bulldogs by a score of 8-7. The Reds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Bria Foster put in work no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Johanna Galvan and Emma Anderson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Galvan went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Anderson went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases and two runs. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Hofer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
As for University, their victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.
Like Eaton, University also got a great game from a two-way player: Sydney Goetzel. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Goetzel was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, University let Natalie Galindo and Emma Zacheis run wild. Galindo went 3-for-4 with one run and one double, while Zacheis went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits Galindo has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bergen Duarte, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Eaton has already played their next contest, a 17-0 victory against Platte Valley on the 4th. As for University, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-1 win against Resurrection Christian on the 7th.
