Basketball Recap: Catalina Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leigh over Silver Creek

Leigh suffered their closest defeat since January 6, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Silver Creek Raiders by a score of 56-54. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Leigh lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Catalina Williams, who posted 12 points and six assists. Those six assists gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cali Wallace, who earned nine points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Leigh's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Silver Creek, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-7.

Leigh wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-42 loss against Piedmont Hills on the 21st. As for Silver Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-27 defeat against American on the 18th.
