Baseball Recap: Cherokee's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cherokee had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Gloucester County Tech 8-7. Winning may never get old, but the Chiefs sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Andrew Dreby looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brett Jackson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Cherokee is undefeated when Jackson posts three or more RBI, but 10-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jake Nelson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Cherokee now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Gloucester County Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11-1 record this season.

Cherokee has already played their next game (against Cherry Hill East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Gloucester County Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
