Basketball Recap: Ferndale Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Ferndale has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 50-39 to the Purchase Line Red Dragons on Friday.

Defeat or not, Ferndale got some senior leadership from Maisen Sechrengost and Abby Barley. Sechrengost posted eight points and ten boards, while Barley had 11 points. Deajah Chatman was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Even though they lost, Ferndale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests.

Purchase Line's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rylee Mahaffey led the charge by posting 18 points and eight rebounds. Mckenzie Mumau also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Ferndale's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for Purchase Line, their record now sits at 7-5.

Ferndale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-31 win against Rockwood on the 13th. Purchase Line has also already played their next game (against United), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
