Softball Game Preview: Washington County Golden Hawks vs. Johnson County Trojans

The Washington County Golden Hawks will face off against the Johnson County Trojans at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Washington County saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Screven County by a score of 6-5. The loss put an end to the Golden Hawks' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, Johnson County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Wheeler County on Thursday, falling 8-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Trojans have suffered against the Bulldogs since September 25, 2018.

Washington County's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Johnson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Washington County came out on top in a nail-biter against Johnson County in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, sneaking past 12-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
