League recap: Jones dominating on the mound for Johns Creek

6-AAAAAA league recap: 3/27/13

6-AAAAAA's top pitcher this week was Johns Creek's Connor Jones. Over the past week, he had one win and 11 Ks.

Lambert had a successful week, as it won three total games to lead the league. The Longhorns beat Alpharetta 10-1, Chattahoochee 3-2 and South Forsyth 4-3.

The Gladiators boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Johns Creek stole 14 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 32 steals on the year.

Six batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Skye Overton, who collected three hits in five at bats for a .600 average.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Jones, who turned in 11 Ks for the Gladiators. He's first in the league with 23 total strikeouts.



Johns Creek's Jones struck out 11 Centennial hitters en route to a 14-3 victory on March 22. He gave up zero hits and zero runs over five innings of work.

Brandon Gold was an RBI machine on Friday, as he knocked in four runs during the Gladiators' 14-3 win over the Knights. He went 2-for-4 and scored two runs.
