Talawanda hasn't had much luck against Badin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Brave will head out on the road to square off against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Talawanda put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They never let Northwest get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Brave as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Not much got past Garrett Fisher, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Northwest off the board.
At the plate, Mason Merz was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hainline, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Badin got the win against Mt. Healthy on Thursday by a conclusive 18-0. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Carson Sergent looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.
Badin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .778. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Talawanda's record now sits at 2-23. As for Badin, their record is now 21-3-1.
Talawanda couldn't quite get it done against Badin when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as they fell 5-0. Can the Brave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
