Basketball Recap: Oakmont Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Oakmont can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Ponderosa Bruins and fell 73-38. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Oakmont lost on Tuesday, don't look at Kaitlyn Fayter. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. The match was Fayter's fourth in a row with at least 19 points. Lily Nelson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Ponderosa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brooklynn Nordquist out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. What's more, Nordquist posted five steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Sammie Porter also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Oakmont's record now sits at 19-11. As for Ponderosa, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 25-4 record this season.

Oakmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ponderosa, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-34 victory against Ceres on the 20th.
