Baseball Recap: Dougherty Comes Up Short

Dougherty managed to slip by Cairo the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Dougherty Trojans lost 17-3 to the Cairo Syrupmakers on Monday. That makes it the first time this season the Trojans have let down their home crowd.

Dougherty saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Weaver, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Weaver is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Dougherty fell to 6-1. As for Cairo, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

While Dougherty had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
