The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th in California, while the Crusaders are ranked 66th in California).

Meanwhile, Saint Mary's humbled Fortuna with a 63-36 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Saint Mary's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-15. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points over those games. As for Dougherty Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 21-10.
