Volleyball Recap: Murphysboro Comes Up Short

Murphysboro lost against Goreville back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Red Devils fell just short of the Blackcats by a score of 2-1. While the Red Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blackcats 25-13 in the first set.

Murphysboro actually scored more points across those three sets (68-63), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 13-25, 25-21, 25-22.

When it comes to explaining why Murphysboro lost, don't look at Macey Alexander. Despite the final result, she had 28 assists and four digs. With that strong performance, Alexander is now averaging an impressive 12.7 assists per game.

Murphysboro's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Goreville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-9.
