Softball Preview: Arvada West Wildcats vs. Chatfield Chargers
Arvada West is 1-9 against Chatfield since September of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Arvada West is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Lakewood, who was ranked 15th at the time (Arvada West was ranked 20th). The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 6-5 on Saturday.
Chatfield couldn't beat Columbine on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Chargers came up short against the Rebels, falling 14-4. While the Chargers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rebels 4-0 in the first period.
Chatfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessyca Vargas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. Payton Sare also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Chatfield's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Arvada West, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
