Basketball Game Preview: Mica Mountain Thunderbolts vs. Salpointe Catholic Lancers

The Mica Mountain Thunderbolts are taking a road trip to face off against the Salpointe Catholic Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mica Mountain knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Salpointe Catholic likes a good challenge.

Last Monday, everything came up roses for Mica Mountain against Eastmark as the team secured an 83-56 win.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Salpointe Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 63-43 margin over Catalina Foothills on Tuesday. The Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season.

Mica Mountain pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.7 points. As for Salpointe Catholic, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Mica Mountain came out on top in a nail-biter against Salpointe Catholic in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 44-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mica Mountain since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
