Basketball Recap: Chase Chester Key Part of a Team Effort in Bearcats Win

There's no place like home for Ray, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past the Duncan Wildkats with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 62-44. That's more bragging rights for the Bearcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ray's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Chester, who posted 16 points and six steals. Chester's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chris Curiel, who put up 13 points and three steals.

Ray was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Duncan only racked up six assists.

Despite the loss, Duncan still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Sumner, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. What's more, Sumner also racked up eight blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024.

Ray is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Duncan, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

Ray wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 75-65 victory against Lourdes Catholic on the 1st. As for Duncan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-43 defeat against Willcox on the 3rd.
