Basketball Game Preview: Canyon Hills Rattlers vs. Heritage Patriots

The Canyon Hills Rattlers will be taking part in a tournament against the Heritage Patriots at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.

On December 11th, Canyon Hills came up short against Mission Vista and fell 41-34. The Rattlers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Anayla Saulo, who posted eight points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sophia Wilson, who had nine points.

Meanwhile, Heritage can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Trabuco Hills by a score of 47-37. The win was all the more spectacular given the Patriots' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 508th, while the Mustangs are ranked 180th).

Heritage's win came from a few key players Canyon Hills will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Payton Ladrido, who earned eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Jones, who posted eight points.

Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Heritage's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Canyon Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Canyon Hills has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 39.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35 boards.
