Recap: Brea Olinda Wildcats vs. Esperanza Aztecs
The Brea Olinda Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Esperanza. Brea Olinda has struggled against Esperanza recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Brea Olinda lost, one person who can't be blamed is Liz Han. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Mariah Henderson, who scored ten points.
Madilyn Lam was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds for Esperanza. Lam has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Bailey Frazier was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Brea Olinda has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Esperanza, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brea Olinda will take on Foothill at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Foothill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Tuesday. As for Esperanza, they will be playing in front of their home fans against El Dorado at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. El Dorado will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
