Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ariella Sheppard and Noga Kohavi Lead Kehillah to Victory

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Kehillah ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Mountain View Academy Mustangs 60-57. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Rams, who until this game were averaging 26.71 points allowed.

Leading Kehillah to victory were Noga Kohavi and Ariella Sheppard. Kohavi posted 29 points, while Sheppard earned 19 points along with seven boards and six steals. That's the most steals Sheppard has posted since back in January of 2024. Advah Spiro was another key player, putting up six points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Kehillah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Mountain View Academy had strong showings from Leilani Wright, who had 25 points along with eight steals and seven boards, and Audrey Mackey, who put up 24 points and seven steals. The match was Mackey's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Yaretzi Garcia also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Kehillah and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for Mountain View Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Kehillah wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 38-17 victory against Mid-Peninsula on the 23rd. As for Mountain View Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-45 win against Central Valley Christian Academy on the 22nd.
