New Hanover faced Hoggard in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wildcats took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The loss continues a trend for New Hanover in their meetings with Hoggard: they've now lost eight in a row.

New Hanover's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4-1. As for Hoggard, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 15-1-1.
