Preview: Jefferson-Morgan Rockets vs. Geibel Catholic Gators
Jefferson-Morgan and Geibel Catholic are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Jefferson-Morgan Rockets will be playing at home against the Geibel Catholic Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson-Morgan is out to stop a ten-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
On Tuesday, Jefferson-Morgan came up short against West Greene and fell 45-32.
Meanwhile, Geibel Catholic put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They blew past Avella 63-37. The win made it back-to-back wins for Geibel Catholic.
Geibel Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Larkin out in front who dropped a triple-double on 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. That makes it 20 consecutive games in which Larkin has scored at least a third of Geibel Catholic's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Henderson, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Jefferson-Morgan has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Geibel Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Jefferson-Morgan came up short against Geibel Catholic in their previous matchup back in January, falling 55-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Larkin, who almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds. Now that Jefferson-Morgan knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
