It was a good run, but Steward unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Covenant School Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-9, 25-27, 25-12.

Mia Burruss paced Steward's offense, picking up seven kills. Burruss got some help from Molly O'Sullivan and her 15 assists. Burruss was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Kalley Mcnish was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had eight digs and seven assists. Those seven assists gave her a new career-high.

Steward now has a losing record of 11-12. As for The Covenant School, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 18-1.

Steward has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Norfolk Collegiate on the 16th. As for The Covenant School, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Chelsea Academy on the 16th.
