Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Cabrillo's Third in Last Four Outings

San Marcos came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Cabrillo, but Jasmyn Hughes wouldn't allow it. The Cabrillo Conquistadores managed a 41-35 victory over the San Marcos Royals on Friday thanks in part to Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in February of 2024.

The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Austin, who posted 15 points. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points.

Cabrillo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for San Marcos, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

When Cabrillo and San Marcos next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Cabrillo will try to stop Santa Ynez's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th. Meanwhile, San Marcos will try to stop Ventura's 11-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
