Baseball Game Preview: Rochester Rockets vs. Springfield

The Rochester Rockets will face off against Springfield at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Rochester and Jacksonville, and Jacksonville kept the tradition alive. The Rockets fell just short of the Crimsons by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Springfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Glenwood on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 15-10 to the Titans. Springfield has struggled against Glenwood recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Brody Scheffler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Springfield: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 10-13 otherwise. Wade Snyder was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Rochester's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14.

Everything went Rochester's way against Springfield in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Rochester made off with an 11-4 win. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do Springfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
