Baseball Game Preview: Maryvale Flyers vs. Olean Huskies

The Maryvale Flyers will face off against the Olean Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Maryvale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Maryvale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Sunday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Iroquois, sneaking past 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Isaiah Hill and Jacob Kuciel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hill pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kuciel didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Hill went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Kuciel went 3-for-4 with two triples and two runs. That's the most triples Kuciel has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dominic Daly, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Olean got themselves on the board against Depew on Sunday, but Depew never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Maryvale's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Olean, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Everything went Maryvale's way against Olean in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Maryvale made off with an 8-0 victory. Will the Flyers repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
