Basketball Game Preview: Bangor Slaters vs. Pen Argyl Green Knights

The Bangor Slaters and the Pen Argyl Green Knights will compete for holiday cheer at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Bangor will be strutting in after a victory while Pen Argyl will be coming in after a loss.

If Bangor beats Pen Argyl with 46 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Bangor walked away with a 46-37 win over Wilson Area on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Slaters.

Bangor can attribute much of their success to Avery Nelson, who posted 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Aubrie Labar, who went 9 of 13 on her way to 18 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Nelson has scored at least a third of Bangor's points.

Meanwhile, Pen Argyl ended up a good deal behind Southern Lehigh on Monday and lost 55-38.

The victory got Bangor back to even at 4-4. As for Pen Argyl, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1.

Bangor took a serious blow against Pen Argyl when the teams last played back in February, falling 55-21. Thankfully for Bangor, Ellie Wallbillich (who went 10 of 19 on her way to 26 points in addition to eight steals and seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time.
