Basketball Game Preview: Vacaville Christian Falcons vs. Mesa Verde Mavericks

The Vacaville Christian Falcons will take on the Mesa Verde Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Vacaville Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 61-36 margin over Golden Sierra on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Vacaville Christian found their leader in freshman Elena Vizcay, who dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 16 rebounds, and 18 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Vizcay has scored at least a third of Vacaville Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Ruff, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds.

Vacaville Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Mesa Verde waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Scots, posting a 63-5 win. That 58 point margin sets a new team best for the Mavericks this season.

Mesa Verde found their leader in sophomore Jaiden Alexander, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for Alexander. Another player making a difference was Ellie Ray, who posted 13 points.

Mesa Verde has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 16.7 points per game. As for Vacaville Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
