Mountain View Academy has gone 6-0 against Kehillah recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mountain View Academy Mustangs just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Kehillah Rams at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Mountain View Academy: 30, Kehillah: 21.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
Mountain View Academy easily dispatched East Palo Alto Academy on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Mountain View Academy fell just short of Pacific Bay Christian by a score of 30-28 on Monday. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Defeat or not, Mountain View Academy got some senior leadership from Audrey Mackey and Leilani Wright. Mackey went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points, while Wright posted 13 points. That was a full 53.6% of Mountain View Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kehillah, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Mid-Peninsula with a sharp 42-16 win last Monday. The squad ran away with 32 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Kehillah's win came from a few key players Mountain View Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Adi Lerner, who earned eight points and 13 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Noga Kohavi, who scored 15 points and five boards.
Kehillah's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Mountain View Academy, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Mountain View Academy has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 23 boards per game. However, it's not like Kehillah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Mountain View Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Kehillah in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 32-27 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Kehillah's Ariella Sheppard, who had 22 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Mountain View Academy still be able to contain Sheppard? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
