The Heritage Eagles will take on the Ponderosa Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
While Heritage's victory against Regis Jesuit wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Raiders 13-11. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won five in a row.
Aubrey Kramp was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 7-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ponderosa). They never let Highlands Ranch get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Friday. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Annabelle Horan made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Ponderosa got a massive performance out of Braelyn Sisk, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Sisk a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Hall, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Ponderosa's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Heritage, their victory bumped their record up to 7-15.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Heritage hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Ponderosa struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Heritage was able to grind out a solid win over Ponderosa in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 12-9. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
