Football Game Preview: Hurricane Tigers vs. Snow Canyon Warriors

The Hurricane Tigers will face off against the Snow Canyon Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Hurricane and Pine View, and Pine View kept the tradition alive. The Tigers fell 31-27 to the Panthers on Friday.

Even if they lost, Hurricane's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Titan Wright refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Meanwhile, Snow Canyon faced Crimson Cliffs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Warriors took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The Warriors have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Hurricane will have to contain Parker Olson as he made an impact in Snow Canyon's last game. He threw for 297 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 40 yards.

Snow Canyon's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Hurricane, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Hurricane has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 308.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Snow Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 148.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything came up roses for Hurricane against Snow Canyon when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 35-7 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
