After a string of nine wins, the Leading Edge Academy - GEC Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 75-42 loss at the hands of Tucson High Magnet School. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Leading Edge Academy - GEC has scored all season.
Tucson High Magnet School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tavion Okougbo led the charge by scoring 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Patrick Flores was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Leading Edge Academy - GEC's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for Tucson High Magnet School, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leading Edge Academy - GEC will challenge Gilbert Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilbert Classical Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Leading Edge Academy - GEC is ranked 107th). Tucson High Magnet School will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cienega at 7:00 p.m. on January 11, 2024.
