Basketball Recap: Cape Fear Sets Scoring Season-High Against South View

Cape Fear fought the good fight in their overtime match against South View on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the South View Tigers by a score of 81-78. One positive for the Colts, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Cape Fear's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chosen Wynn, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Wynn a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Dylan Parker, who went 9-for-14 to rack up 22 points.

Even though they lost, Cape Fear smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive games.

South View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antrell Gilmore, who went 7-for-13 on his way to 17 points. Thanks to that strong game, Gilmore now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. Yabniel Cheveres was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Cape Fear's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for South View, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Cape Fear didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-52 loss against Lumberton on the 13th. As for South View, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-54 defeat against Jack Britt on the 14th.
