Soccer Game Preview: Hollister vs. Monterey

The Hollister Haybalers will take on the Monterey Dores at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hollister's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Hollister is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Rancho San Juan on Friday. Hollister fell just short of Rancho San Juan by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Haybalers have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Monterey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Salinas. While losing is never fun, the Dores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 640th, while the Cowboys are ranked 58th).

Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Hollister, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6-1.

Hollister skirted past Monterey 3-2 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Hollister repeat their success, or does Monterey have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
