Helix proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 25) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Steele Canyon Cougars 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Highlanders have posted since January 19, 2024.

Helix was led to victory by Michaelle Whyte and Jordyn McMillan. Whyte posted 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while McMillan earned 12 points and three blocks. McMillan is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maliyah Johnson, who had three points in addition to 13 boards and three steals.

Helix smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Helix's record now sits at 11-12. As for Steele Canyon, they dropped their record down to 9-19 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Helix will head out to face off against San Marcos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Steele Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
