Softball Recap: Bixby Has No Trouble Against Putnam City West

Bixby got themselves on the board against Putnam City West on Tuesday, but Putnam City West never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 14-0 victory. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Spartans this season.

Addison Shannon looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Bixby let Alli Hancock and Brynlee Hopkins run wild. Hancock went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Hopkins went 1-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two doubles gave Hancock a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Teagan Standley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one double.

Bixby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bixby's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Putnam City West, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bixby will host Muskogee at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Putnam City West, they will be playing at home against Broken Arrow at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
