Recap: St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints vs. Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers
The St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 49-40 to Georgetown Day. While losing is never fun, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 275th in Virginia, while Georgetown Day is ranked first in District of Columbia).
Georgetown Day's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madisyn Moore, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Moore hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Evelyn Chen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes dropped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Georgetown Day, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes will head out on the road to take on Collegiate at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Georgetown Day, they will be playing in front of their home fans against DC International at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. DC International will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
