Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Norfolk

Norfolk entered their tilt with Lincoln North Star on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Navigators. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-4 back in September.

Carlie Brandt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eastyn Schroeder, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 13 contests. Kenzie Zerbie was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Norfolk was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. They are 7-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Norfolk's win bumped their record up to 15-18. As for Lincoln North Star, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-18.

Looking ahead, Norfolk will head out to challenge Lincoln Southwest at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln North Star does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
