After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kennedy, San Fernando was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Sylmar Spartans by a score of 51-42. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while the Spartans are ranked 927th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Sylmar had strong showings from Yaneli Zuniga-Hernandez, who posted 15 points, and Isabella Gonzalez, who had 15 points. The game was Gonzalez's seventh in a row with at least 15 points.

San Fernando is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Sylmar, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
