Football Game Preview: Rolla Pirates vs. Golden Plains Bulldogs

Rolla hasn't had much luck against Golden Plains recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Rolla has given up an average of 52.2 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Rolla's offense might be in the hot seat on Thursday considering what happened against South Barber on Friday. They were beaten by the Chieftains 79-0. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Chieftains are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, Golden Plains scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 66-57 to Cheylin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (52), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Golden Plains' loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Rolla, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Rolla took a serious blow against Golden Plains when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 59-14. Thankfully for the Pirates, Mason Green (who rushed for 89 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
