Soccer Game Preview: Pacific Collegiate vs. Pajaro Valley

Pacific Collegiate and Pajaro Valley are an even 3-3-2 against one another since December of 2016, but likely not for long. The Pacific Collegiate Pumas will square off against the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Pacific Collegiate's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They won by a goal and slipped past North Monterey County 1-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pumas.

Meanwhile, Pajaro Valley gave up the first goal on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Carmel 2-1. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Padres are ranked 599th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valeria Acosta was the driving force of Pajaro Valley's attack as she scored both of Pajaro Valley's goals, bringing her season total up to 43 goals.

Pacific Collegiate's record is now 6-4-1. As for Pajaro Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1-1.
