Football Recap: Trinity Christian Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Trinity Christian extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-5. They lost 42-20 to the Mary Persons Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 21-14 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Trinity Christian lost, don't look at Ashton Clare. Despite the final result, he threw for 197 yards and a pair of touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (91 yards to be exact) went to Peyton Echols.

As for Mary Persons, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points over those games.

CJ Banks was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 130 yards and three scores on only 13 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian will take on Troup County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Mary Persons, they will square off against LaGrange at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Grangers' defense has only allowed 13.6 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
