Soccer Game Preview: Chico vs. Pleasant Valley

The Chico Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Pleasant Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Chico's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over Red Bluff. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six contests by four goals or more so far this season.

They hit Red Bluff with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Juliana Carranza (2), Luciana Sufuentes, Marina Carlos, and Selma Buxrud.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Valley made easy work of Enterprise on Friday and carried off a 7-0 win. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Hornets are ranked 769th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pleasant Valley has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those four matchups. As for Chico, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3-3.
