Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Central lost to Justin Garza on January 13th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Grizzlies took a blow against the Guardians, falling 80-15. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1185th, while the Guardians are ranked 402nd).

It was another big night for Auburn Santos, who posted 29 points for Justin Garza. That makes it six consecutive games in which Santos has scored at least a third of the Guardians' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenya Newsome, who put up 15 points.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Justin Garza, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-8.

Looking ahead, Central will challenge McLane at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Justin Garza, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hanford West at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
